When searching for the ideal mouse peripheral for your gaming rig,
it’s likely that quiet button clicking didn’t even register as a
priority feature. It certainly didn’t occur to us – we’ve never
considered button click noise any kind of a nuisance. But now that new
kid on the block JSCO has made an issue of it, having a dead quiet mouse
is a novelty we’d warm to, even if we never actually come around to the
idea of this feature being of any practical use.
So what it boils down to is the functionality of the JNL-101K. It’s a
compartively small gaming mouse with a slick satin finish, a notched
scroll wheel, two thumb buttons on the side and soft-touch buttons that
make clicks inaudible to anyone without a long furry snout, tail and
collar. The dpi adjustment button sits just below the wheel: usually
this is lit by a coloured LED to indicate a different dpi speed but it
remains red no matter how often it’s pressed. This was probably limited
to save on manufacturing costs and simply moving the cursor around gives
you the indication of the speed anyway, but it’s a bit of a nuisance,
especially in first-person shooters where swinging the crosshair around
isn’t always convenient.
While the JNL-101K isn’t a standout in the gaming peripheral
department, as long as you don’t have basketballer’s hands it’s a good
workstation mouse that doubles up as a passable gaming controller. And
if you’ve built your system around the rule that silence is golden, then
its noiseless buttons will prove a key feature in your purchase
decision.
